Hi everyone,
after that my organisation told me that I passed the test, I started signing all the documents and preparing the application.
But, what's the application?
The application is like a presentation online where you write about yourself, your family and your friends. For this presentation you have to write a letter to your host family to thank them and tell them some more information about your life and you have to make a video. In addition, your parents have to write a second letter to the host family to tell them what you usually do as a family, what's the importance of the world 'family' for all of you and to tell about their son or daughter and, of course, to thank them for hosting you.
Some advice for your letter:
talk about
- Your hobbies and sports
- Your personality
- Your family
- Your expctations for your exchange year
- The things you believe that will be the most challenging for you
- Other experiences abroad that you have had
Some advice for your video:
- Wear something that is comfy and that makes you feel confident
- Find a lit and quiet place
- Talk about your hobbies and your sports, your family and friends
- Tell the reasons why you would like to attend an American High School and live with a Host Family
- Talk slowly and don't forget to smile!
- You should also add some short videos where you do what you like or where you are with your family or friends
But the main advice is: just be honest and creative, just be yourself!
